Polar Night is a short documentary, telling the story of the people who live and work in a remote Norwegian town, 250 miles into the Arctic Circle, as they wait to see the sun for the first time in over two months.
The filmmaker spent more than four months living in Kirkenes, Norway, working full time at a guesthouse for adventure tourists. He trained to be a dog musher and lead teams of Alaskan Huskies, pulling sleds with tourists from all over the world. Polar Night was made in the last 2 weeks of that 4+ month stay, when the sun was just about to be seen for the first time again.
